Recovery is for everyone.

The Maine Recovery Access Project (ME-RAP) is a grassroots recovery community organization led by people with lived and living experience of substance use and recovery—including family members and allies.

At the heart of ME-RAP’s work is a “listening-first” approach that ensures individuals with lived and living experience are central to shaping the programs, services, and policies that impact them. ME-RAP believes that sustainable change is only possible when solutions are driven by the voices of those most affected. By actively listening to communities, we foster collaborative, participant-centered solutions that respond to real-world needs.

Rooted in the longstanding principles of both the recovery and harm reduction movements, ME-RAP is committed to supporting all pathways of recovery. This core value shapes everything we do—our organization, our programs, our leadership, and the Access Center.

Everyone is welcome here.

After 5 PM, we ask that everyone in the Center be involved in a recovery-supportive activity to help maintain a focused and respectful environment for all. This could include attending a meeting, working with a recovery coach, step work, volunteering, or participating in another recovery support service.  Please see our calendar for a full schedule.

Drop-in support includes showers, storage, harm reduction services, connection to treatment and recovery coaching, and a space to rest, care for yourself, and build community. We will also be hosting community resources onsite, including the Health on Wheels bus, trainings, recovery support meetings and other supportive services. Prosocial Events,

Community Service,

& More!

We host a robust calendar of weekly recovery support meetings, pro-social and community-building events, as well as volunteer service days—all activities that foster connection, healing, and joy in recovery.

Our recovery meeting schedule includes a wide range of peer-led options to meet people where they are: AA and NA meetings, All Recovery groups, the signature Thursday Night Thunder, and Youth Caucus gatherings designed specifically for young people. These meetings create safe, welcoming spaces for sharing experience, strength, and hope—and help build a strong foundation for long-term recovery. Don't see something you want? You can host a meeting! Reach out!

Additionally, we host pro-social events! From family-style community dinners and movie nights to holiday celebrations, and neighborhood cleanups, our events are designed to reduce isolation, rebuild social skills, and reconnect individuals to purpose. Whether you're diving into a gardening club project, joining our Fourth of July parade crew, or dancing at a Recovery Month celebration, there's a place for you here.
